Thank you for your interest in presenting a poster or an oral presentation at Primary Care Research Day, taking place on May 4th, 2026, at the Student Union Building (SUB) on the Dalhousie University campus in Halifax, NS.

Please note that all presenters are required to register for the event. Registration is open until April 20th.

Oral Presentation Details:
There will be 20 concurrent oral presentations, with 4 presentations happening simultaneously at each time slot. Attendees can move throughout the rooms and choose which presentation to attend based on their interests.
- Presentation Specifications
- Timing: Each presentation will have a 15-minute slot, consisting of 10 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes for questions.
- Location: Oral presentations will take place on the second and third floors of the SUB in rooms 224, 302, 303, and 307. We ask that all presenters arrive at their assigned room at least 15 minutes before their presentation.
- Schedule: Presentations will run from 1:00 PM to 2:15 PM. You will receive your specific room location and presentation timeslot via email at least 2 weeks prior to the event. Please review your assigned slot and plan accordingly.
- Visuals and AV Equipment:
- Presenters have the option to use PowerPoint for their presentations. Each room will be equipped with AV facilities, including a projector and a computer.
- To ensure a seamless experience, please email your presentation to bricns@dal.ca in advance, or bring it on a USB drive.
- Technical support will be available during the session to assist with any AV issues.
Poster Presentation Details:
Registration will be open early (7:45am) for those with poster boards. All poster boards must be set up before 8:30 am and taken down by 5:00pm the day of the event.
- Poster Specifications
- Size: Posters should be a standard scientific poster size: 3ft x 4ft (36″ x 48″ or 91 cm x 122 cm).
- Orientation: Portrait (3ft wide by 4ft tall)
- Printing: We recommend Dalhousie Printing Services for poster printing.
- Content Guidelines
- Title: Ensure the title is clear and concise.
- Authors: List all contributing authors.
- Introduction/Background: Briefly describe the context and purpose of the research.
- Methods: Outline the methodology used.
- Results or Next Steps: Present key findings with visuals where possible. If currently in progress, outline the next steps of the project. ‘
- Discussion/Conclusion: Summarize the implications of the results.
- References: Include any references or citations.
- Acknowledgments: Mention any funding sources or support received.
- Poster Design Tips
- Clarity: Use clear, legible fonts and avoid clutter. As a rule of thumb, use a font size of 16 point to 32 point and double space
- Visuals: If possible, incorporate charts, graphs, and images to illustrate key points.
- Color Scheme: Use a professional color scheme that enhances readability. Please consider colouring for colorblindness.
- Sections: Organize content into clearly defined sections with headings.
- Set Up
- Location: Posters will be presented on the second floor of the SUB in the Counselor’s Chambers room (room 270).
- Setup Instructions: We will provide boards mounted on stands in the poster hall. Your place among the poster boards will be indicated by the number listed next to your paper in the program (e.g., A-1, A-2).
- Presentation
- Schedule: Presentations will be from 9:45-11:00am. Presenters should attend their poster during their assigned session. During this time, attendees can visit the poster and ask questions. No formal presentation is required.
- Awards: There will be a best student poster award. Students who have indicated their interest in being considered for this award are eligible. Judges will attend your poster during the session to ask questions and discuss your research. The student with the top score will receive a financial reward ($250) presented by BRIC NS – this will be announced during the award ceremony at 3:45pm.
