This year, there was a high volume of applicants across post-secondary institutions for the Student Research Award 2023. Research projects aligned with BRIC NS’ research priorities and goals were peer reviewed and then ranked to determine the recipients. Only the top 5 were selected to receive this years awards!
Below lists the 5 SRA recipients and their projects (in no particular order):
Emily Burke, MA (Health Promotion) – “Examining the Impact of Built Environment Interventions on Children’s Active Transportation and Play in Nova Scotia”
Emily Devereaux, PhD (Health) – “Effect of community-based services delivering primary and non-urgent care and the associated impact on pediatric emergency department utilization”
Emily Drake, PhD (Health) – “Exploring the Experience of Transition to Palliative Care of Young Adults Living with Metastatic/Advanced Cancer”
Rafeeda Khashmelmous, MA (Health Promotion) – “Mobilizing the Sustainable Livelihood Framework (SLF) to identify newcomer approaches and perceptions toward livelihood security five years post-settlement in Atlantic Canada”
Maggie Locke, MSc (Kinesiology) – “Risky Play for Children with Physical Disabilities in Atlantic Canada from the Perspective of their Caregivers”
