Student Research Award Recipients (2025)

This year, the Student Research Award (SRA) saw a large number of applications from graduate students conducting high-quality work across Nova Scotia. Submissions that closely aligned with BRIC NS’ research priorities were evaluated through a peer review process and after careful review and ranking, the top 3 projects were selected to receive this year’s prestigious awards. We’re thrilled to acknowledge these outstanding students and celebrate their contributions to primary care research!

Below lists the 3 SRA recipients and their projects (in no particular order):

  • Melanie Dunlop, PhD (Nursing) – “Including Social Determinants of Health Screening in Primary Care: A NP-led Quality Improvement Study”
  • Chris Consmueller, MSc (Kinesiology) – “A Randomized Controlled Protocol: STudy on bluebeRries, prOteiN, and exercise for improvinG frailty and cardiovascular disease (STRONG)”
  • Arezoo Mojbafan, PhD (Health) – “Exploration of Lived Experiences of Health Inequity among Older Immigrants”
