The Maritime Family Practice Research Network (MarNet-FP) holds data from sentinel physicians and nurse practitioners from both urban and rural environments. This electronic medical record (EMR) information can be used for research. This session is designed to introduce clinical users of the EMR to BRIC NS.

Foundations in Patient-Oriented Research Curriculum
In collaboration with Primary Health Care, Nova Scotia Health Authority, BRIC NS has arranged for the Maritime SPOR Support Unit (MSSU) to offer the CIHR Foundations in Patient-Oriented Research Curriculum to interested BRIC NS network partners. The program is delivered to researchers, patients, clinicians, policymakers and healthcare decision makers to learn more about patient-oriented research and partnerships.
Fall Project Incubator Working Groups
The time has come to start preparing for the 2017 PIHCI funding competitions. We are anticipating that the next round of PIHCI funding opportunities will be announced in spring 2017 including Knowledge Synthesis, Comparative Program and Policy Analysis, and Multi-Year grants.
To kick things off, we are holding a Project Incubator on November 18 to bring together groups of researchers and to move forward with project ideas. We are allowing enough time in this meeting to create working documents.

Implementing the ‘Frailty Portal’ in Community Practice: Evaluating feasibility, effects and expansion needs
Primary care providers regularly encounter frail persons in their daily clinical work. However, routine identification and measurement of frailty is not part of their standard practice and there is a general lack of awareness and consistency in their approach to frailty. This seminar will present the web-based “Frailty Portal” as a means of providing care to frail patients.
Palliative Care in Denmark: Bridging the Health Sector Gap
Palliative trajectories are extremely vulnerable – especially when it comes to co-operation across sector borders. But how does it look from patients’, relatives’ and professionals’ perspectives? In Denmark, GPs play an important role in these trajectories, but what do we know about their effort and attitudes? How do we go ahead from here?
