Registration is now open for Primary Healthcare Research Day 2017!

Primary Healthcare Research Day, now in its fourth year, is an opportunity for learners, decision-makers, citizens, and researchers from a variety of disciplines to come together and celebrate primary healthcare research happening across the province.  Research Day is presented by Collaborative Research in Primary Health Care (CoR-PHC).  The day is focused on the role that research has in improving primary healthcare service and delivery.

BRIC NS Student Award

BRIC NS is pleased to announce that we have partnered with the Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation to offer the BRIC NS Student Research Award as a supplementary award to the Scotia Scholars Award.  Two awards of $1500 will be given annually to Master’s/PhD students working in primary and integrated health care research in an area related to the mandate of BRIC NS.

BRIC NS success in CIHR competition

BRIC NS is pleased to share the results of the CIHR Knowledge Synthesis and Comparative Program and Policy Analysis competitions.  Integrating end of life care to help people stay in the community: The essentials for success (Knowledge Synthesis) and Integrating Paramedics and Primary and Palliative teams to Optimize Patient Time in the Community at the End-of-Life (Comparative Program and Policy Analysis) are being led by BRIC NS members.

Dr. Fred Burge awarded lifetime achievement award

Congratulations to BRIC NS Research Lead and Nominated Principal Applicant Dr. Fred Burge, the inaugural recipient of the Dr. Charles and Mrs. Jean Gass Lifetime Achievement Award.  Dr. Burge has received this award in recognition of his immense contribution to primary care research and dedication to life long learning. His passion for providing dignified palliative care to his patients is the foundation upon which he has built his career.

The Maritime SPOR SUPPORT Unit is offering a travel award for to up to 3 people to attend the KT Canada Annual Scientific Meeting in Toronto (June 13-14) and an End of Grant KT Workshop in Toronto (June 15).  The award will cover all costs associated with meeting registration, travel and accommodation.

Knowledge Synthesis Grants

The specific objective of this funding opportunity is to support cross-jurisdictional teams of researchers and knowledge users to produce knowledge syntheses or scoping reviews relevant to the priorities of the pan-Canadian Primary and Integrated Health Care Innovations (PIHCI) Network that will contribute to the use of synthesized evidence in decision-making and practice across multiple jurisdictions.

Introducing: BRIC NS

We are pleased to announce that, effective immediately, NS-PIHCI will be known as BRIC NS.  Our new name, Building Research for Integrated Primary Healthcare, reflects our commitment to building a strong foundation for primary and integrated healthcare research in Nova Scotia.  We will continue to identify, support and scale up innovative approaches to primary and integrated healthcare – the building blocks for better patient and health system outcomes.

We are excited to move forward as BRIC NS and look forward to creating new partnerships and strengthening our existing ones.
